Business Manager

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General

· Assist the CEO with any new business acquisitions or new development and actively seek out new business partners or providers .

  • Take decisions about referrals and allocations to ensure that accommodation is let appropriately.
  • Liaising with other professionals and agencies involved as necessary in the provision of support to residents as appropriate. Including sponsors and other agencies with regard to move-on.
  • Annually monitor resident satisfaction with a customer questionnaire.
  • Co-ordinate activities to ensure that specific quality standards are met.

Premises

· Ensure Health & Safety requirements are met in all areas including staff, residents and general conditions at all houses.

· Ensure that all houses are complaint with mandatory requirements such as legionella testing, COSHH, gas servicing, electrical and PAT testing.

· Understand and observe fire regulations including ensuring weekly fire alarm tests and fire drills are undertaken at appropriate intervals and recorded.

· Liaise with external contractors to ensure a consistent level of service is provided across the Society which meets the needs of the residents.

· Maintain compliance with law, regulations, common practice standards and quality standards such as Safeguarding and ensure appropriate evidencing is recorded.

Other Duties

  • Responsibility for adherence to the Abbeyfield internal quality Standard (or equivalent) specifically focussing on continuous improvement.
  • Assist to monitor all company Policies and Procedures to ensure that they are up-to-date and applicable to the needs of the Society.
  • To continuously review all standard forms and documentation used at house level.
  • Line management of relief staff.
  • Line management of House Managers.
  • Stand in for the CEO during times of absence.
  • Assist in the recruitment of staff.
  • To act in accordance with the Abbeyfield Ethos, Values, Policies and Procedures at all times.
  • To attend meetings and training development as required.
  • To maintain confidentiality at all times and act in accordance with Data Protection requirements.
  • To be aware of and comply with safe working practices as laid down by the Health & Safety at Work Act.
  • To be aware of, and act within, Abbeyfield Wessex policies in respect of equality and diversity.
  • To undertake travel across the whole of the Abbeyfield Wessex locations as required
  • To take responsibility for the smooth running of all houses.
  • To carry out any additional and reasonable duties as requested.

PERSON SPECIFICATION – BUSINESS MANAGER

Candidate Profile: You must have previous extensive experience of supervising/managing staff preferably within the housing sector. You should have the ability to multi-task, manage your own workload and remain calm under pressure. Some flexibility with hours will be required to attend training and meetings.

You should be highly organised, adaptable and able to work alone and have the ability to empathise and understand the needs of our residents and their families.

Educated to GCSE Grade C in English and Mathematics - ESSENTIAL

Previous managerial experience- ESSENTIAL

Experience of seeking out new business opportunities - ESSENTIAL

Experience of working in the supported/sheltered housing sector - ESSENTIAL

Experience of developing and delivering services - ESSENTIAL

Awareness and understanding of all relevant legislation - ESSENTIAL

Awareness of the importance of confidentiality - ESSENTIAL

Experience of working with elderly people - DESIRABLE

Good IT skills with knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook - ESSENTIAL

Excellent interpersonal skills, able to deal sensitively and tactfully with colleagues, volunteers residents and residents families- ESSENTIAL

Caring nature with the ability to empathise with older people - ESSENTIAL

Ability to work as part of a team - ESSENTIAL

Satisfactory Enhanced DBS Disclosure - ESSENTIAL

Willingness to undertake training as required - ESSENTIAL

Prepared to travel - ESSENTIAL

Flexibility with hours worked - ESSENTIAL

Driving licence with access to vehicle and the ability to travel within the Abbeyfield Wessex region.- ESSENTIAL
